Hatchet Granny

You found the door.

Few read the can closely. Fewer knock.

Every member is counted. She stamped a long number on your can, beneath the bars, where only the machines read. Speak its last four marks.

Chapter I · The Abyss · Founding Members

The Order of the Hatchet

Before the Healer, there was the Abyss. The Granny did not fall into it. She moved in. Hung curtains. Planted a garden in the dark.

Nothing grew there but reishi: the mushroom that feeds on fallen wood, that turns what died into medicine. So she brewed it, with rose for the love, lavender for the sleep of the heart, lemon balm for the nerve, and pink peppercorn for the bite that wakes you back up.

The first batch was not a product. It was a rope.

You are holding the rope. Climb.
