Each Hatchet Granny elixir is hand-crafted with purpose, blending flavors and herbal magic while dancing to The Sisters of Mercy. We carefully choose our ingredients not just for taste but for their functional properties. 

The Heartbreak Healer Botanical Mixer is designed to nourish the heart—energetically and emotionally—while providing a truly elevated, botanical beverage experience. Crafted to feel like an herbal hug and evoke strolling through a moonlit English garden, this first flavor in our three-part series focuses on the heart center.

Once we’ve brewed the liquid and added our flavors, we complete each elixir with something truly magical: a mushroom extract, the cherry on top. (Not those kind of magic mushrooms lol!) The first adaptogenic mushroom we are working with is Reishi, the mushroom of immortality.

Our partners do something truly magical - What is Spagyric Extraction?

A Spagyric extract is an alchemical preparation dating back to the 1500s and the famed Paracelsus extracting the body, spirit, and soul of the plant—believed to amplify its healing powers. “Solve et Coagula”—the art of breaking down to build up, creating something greater than before, the whole now greater than the sum of its parts. Our first spagyric extract of motherwort, turkey tail, and lemon balm creates a potent remedy for heartbreak, grief, and emotional recovery. We will be working with mushrooms Reishi and Lionsmane next. 

  • Alcohol Extraction (Spirit):

    First, the plant material is soaked in alcohol to draw out its medicinal and energetic components. The alcohol acts as the carrier of the plant’s “spirit,” extracting the beneficial compounds like essential oils and resins.

  • Water Extraction (Soul):

    Next, the plant undergoes a water-based extraction to capture the water-soluble compounds, such as polysaccharides and tannins. These components represent the “soul” of the plant, contributing to its healing properties.

  • Burning the Marc (Body):

    Finally, the leftover plant material, known as the marc, is burned to ash. This ash contains the plant’s mineral salts, representing its “body.” These salts are purified and reunited with the alcohol and water extracts, completing the Spagyric remedy.

  • Reishi

    The "Mushroom of Immortality" revered in East Asian medicine for over 2,000 years, once reserved for emperors seeking eternal life. This lacquered forest royalty is a celebrated adaptogen, appearing in ancient texts as a longevity tonic and spiritual ally. Woody, bittersweet, grounding--reishi brings dignified calm to chaos, like a wise elder who's seen some shit and came out glowing.

  • Chaga

    The charred gift from Siberian birch forests, brewed as a folk remedy across Russia and Northern Europe for centuries as "black gold." This gnarled functional mushroom was the coffee substitute during wartime and the healer's secret for stamina in brutal winters. Earthy, smoky, deep--chaga is midnight in a cup, the loyal friend who shows up when things get dark.

  • Lion's Mane

    The cascading white waterfall of the forest, prized in traditional Chinese medicine as both gourmet delicacy and brain tonic for monks and scholars.
